Nobody, it seems, has ever heard of Stephen Gyllenhaal's 1992 deeply moving film version of Graham Swift's dark novel Waterland; the film starred Jeremy Irons, Sinéad Cusack, Ethan Hawke, and a very young Maggie Gyllenhaal.
